Technology
Granicrete is an engineered, lightweight acrylic polymer concrete that has been designed to withstand the stresses of daily living. It is super-adhesive and applied in successive layers to give it durability, superior strength and compression resistance. When used for countertop resurfacing, Granicrete is topcoated with a scorch-resistant crystal clear layer of acrylic epoxy in a choice of sheens from high gloss to matte finish. When used as flooring, Granicrete is sealed with a rugged layer of protection that also has different possible sheen finishes.
Of course, MSDS sheets (Material Safety Data Sheets) are available for all of the products that go into the making of a Granicrete surface.
Green Aspects
These days, environmental responsibility is no longer a luxury but a necessity. We are proud of Granicrete's decidedly green aspect, as featured on a "Green" episode of HGTV's "Designed to Sell":

- Made in eco-friendly plants
- Unlike stone, does not require quarrying or open-face extraction
- Because there is usually no demolition, nothing is added to the landfill
- Only a small amount of material is used, typically 40 lbs for kitchen
- No VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and no radon emissions
- No harsh cleaners or chemicals are needed to clean and maintain a Granicrete surface
